Chicken “Zhatvarski” style

Ingedients: (serves 4)
  • 1 chicken
  • 1 onion
  • 1 package “Arte” whole wheat
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 red peppers
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 spring chives or celery (or one tsp dried)
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

1. Wash the wheat several times under cold water.
Place it in a pot, filled with water, just a finger over the wheat itself. Bring it to a boil and then drain it.

2. Cut the chicken into four or eight pieces and salt it.

3. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the chicken for one or two minutes on each side. It is desirable to do so under a lid, because the oil splatters.

4. Take the chicken out and fry the onion and peppers, cut into cubes, in the same fat for a minute.

5. Add the peeled and chopped tomatoes. Cook for another minute, salt it and add the wheat.

Pour in 1.5 liters of hot water.
Add the chicken and cook under a lid on low heat for about 40 minutes. Finally, add the finely chopped chives or celery.
Boil the dish for another 5 minutes.
Tip: You can prepare the dish without frying the chicken, but by doing so the flavor gets much stronger and richer.
